What is Yoga?
Yoga means many things to many people:
A physical practice (Asana or postures)
A time of calm and tranquility
An opportunity to re-connect with ourselves and our true nature
A space in which to become present
Yoga is all of these things and so much more. In its truest sense yoga is a way of life. A philosophy of living, a science, if you like, dating back thousands of years. (Yoga means union/to yoke in Sanskrit)People often say "I am not flexible enough for yoga" that is a huge misconception, yoga is for everyone, and everyone is able to do yoga. Yoga is not about touching your toes, its allowing yourself to reconnect, to become present.
I can teach you to stand on your head, if thats your goal. More than likely I will re-introduce you to the art of listening to your body. Listening to the bodily signals you receive and as a result increasing you movement capabilities and feeling better in yourself, physically and emotionally.
At its core, Yoga promotes a harmony of union, not just in us as individuals, but in all things. Through its practice, we come to realise we are but a small part of something so much bigger.
Yoga is “returning to the great harmony over and over again” (Swami Satyananda) and it is this returning over and over that is key. If we keep coming back to our practice, and back to ourselves, again and again, then over time we learn to live more in harmony with ourselves and ultimately with the world. Its creates a sense of acceptance of who we are and where we are, and enhances our lives, on so many levels. Why not give it a go? what have you got to lose. Call me, Emma on 07940963414 lets have a chat, and allow yourself to embrace the "harmony"of yoga.
''The success of Yoga does not lie in the ability to perform postures but in how it positively changes the way we live our life and our relationships".-T.K.V. DESIKACHAR

What is Somatic Movement ?
Based on the work of Thomas Hanna, Somatics engages the nervous system in an active learning process that consists of very slow, focused, conscious movements. The movement techniques used within somatics encourage the nervous system to release chronic muscle tension which in turn allows for us to move in natural, relaxed and efficient ways. To RE-connect, RE-charge and RE-calibrate
