I specialise in Hatha, and Yin Yoga . With an emphasis on deeply connecting with your subtle energy and encouraging your self awareness and interoception.
YOGA is my passion. I teach a blended class, where I include traditional yoga poses with somatic movement to enhance physical and emotional wellbeing. My yoga teachings are about function, not form. I will give modifications to empower you to listen to your body and make choices that are right for you. Encouraging the reconnection with yourself, physically, mentally and spiritually.

What is Yoga?
Yoga means many things to many people;
A physical practice (Asana or postures)
A time of calm and tranquility
An opportunity to re-connect with ourselves and our true nature
A space in which to become present
A way of life
Yoga is all of these things and so much more. Fundamentally and in its truest sense yoga is "a way of life." A philosophy of living, a science, if you like, dating back thousands of years.
Initially many people come to yoga, looking for something to help them relax, or for a "good stretch"
Over time and through attendance of classes, yoga works its magic, that hour or so of connection with yourself, the feelings of calmness and relaxation you feel, the enhanced awareness of your body begin to permeate your life.
I can teach you to stand on your head, if thats your goal. More than likely I will re-introduce you to the art of listening to your body. Listening to the bodily signals you receive and as a result increasing you movement capabilities and feeling better in yourself, physically, mentally and emotionally. I like to keep yoga real, I will encourage you not only to stretch and strengthen your bodies, but to deepen your self awareness, to strengthen and open your mind. To move towards living your best life.
At its core, Yoga promotes a harmony of union, not just in us as individuals, but in all things. Through its practice, we come to realise we are but a small part of something so much bigger.
Yoga is “returning to the great harmony over and over again” (Swami Satyananda) and it is this returning over and over that is key. If we keep coming back to our practice, and back to ourselves, again and again, then over time we learn to live more in harmony with ourselves and ultimately with the world. It's creates a sense of acceptance of who we are and where we are, and enhances our lives, on so many levels. I often say in class "We don't practice yoga to get good at yoga, we practice yoga to get good at life."

What is Somatic Movement ?
Based on the work of Thomas Hanna, Somatics engages the nervous system in an active learning process that consists of very slow, focused, conscious movements. The movement techniques used within somatics encourage the nervous system to release chronic muscle tension which in turn allows for us to move in natural, relaxed and efficient ways.
